Lamentations as we call it, in its original form is named aptly ‘How’. How is a book in the Bible Christians don’t tend to look at often, if at all. It is a poetic book expressing pain with an underpinning question, How?

The book is set, when Israel have been conquered by the Babylonians. Jerusalem a city of palaces has been laid waste, along with the peoples hopes, dreams and aspirations. The Temple a symbol of their sovereignty under God has been defiled. There is but one question, born out of anger, despair and grief, How?
