#FastingFriday

Wow, what a Sunday at CityHill. I personally missed the talk as I was out with CityLite, boy did we have an awesome time. But once I got home I had time to edit Andre’s talk before uploading it for our podcast.

Can I just say WHAT A WORD that was, I mean wow? Solipsism is not something I thought could ever be spoken about in such an enticing way. If you missed it you need to listen to the podcast. Have a note paper and pen handy because Andre’s exercises are intentional and will help you to live out this word.

What struck me was when Andre was reading through Isaiah, he brought out some beautiful things about fasting. Fasting for me had always been a spiritual exercise for myself to grow, I did not see it as directly being the mission of God. But it so is.

I want to call you OUT. Out of your slumber and stooper, fast, and don’t do what we Christians do when we fast. Don’t find a room at work and bring out the notebook and pen. Or read a Christian book. Even. If. It. Is. The. BIBLE.

Give God Your Lunch

Go out for lunch with everyone else, have a table water, your fasting, after all, be the life and soul of the lunch, heck they are going to have their mouth full anyhow. Fancy sharing faith and about Jesus, yeah sure you do, shove some of that in there. Make sure you have a CityHill invite card on you <– If you don’t have any then pick them up on Sunday off the tables.

Fasting

Fasting is not a money saving exercise. Jesus is not moneysupermarket.com there I said it. I know as Christians that is one of the pluses of fasting. The other is we lose weight, yup, we are just as narcissistic as everyone else. Gotta get that dream bod.

When the bill comes pay for it. If it just one person, result. If it is two and you if you can afford it. PICK that bill up.

Here is why. When people fast for religious reasons they lock themselves away and are all deep. At CityHill if we fast, we are fasting to be focused like a laser on the mission. Enjoy it, when you fast in the face of temptation, still the life and soul of the lunch and pay for it. Get ready to bask in the ambience of a million and one questions about faith.

This is called – living the dream. Jesus lived this dream. He did amazing things that brought the meaningful questions out of people. It is just the BOMB.

Andre – we salute you, sir, thank you.
