Meet Jenny. Jenny started attending CityHill London earlier this year and it has been such a pleasure and honour to be exploring faith together.
As you get to know someone over time, things come to the surface that you never knew were there. One of those things was the really cool fitness class Jenny runs…
I’ve been to traditional gyms and classes, but the instructor never has time to show me how to do
the moves, plus I find the music isn’t motivating or encouraging.
(BeLifted attendee June 2018)
The above quote has really encouraged me with my fitness classes and is the main reason I started BeLifted in the first place.
BeLifted started in January 2016 and classes began in June of that year. The main aim of BeLifted is to offer people a safe and healthy place to work out the mind and body. It’s an hour-long session and the client gets a full body workout to the backdrop fo some amazing Gospel tunes.
The reason we work out to Gospel music is the words, we believe those words and beliefs can really push people to go that bit further than they otherwise would in their workout. Words that speak to the mind, spirit and less to our flesh.
I have seen how clients who typically would feel uncomfortable in a fitness class, push past and do things they never imagined possible. It is all down to Jesus.
Where to find us
My classes currently run twice a month at the Bridge Gym in Southwark and you can find out more on my website: www.beliftednow.com
I can also travel to your location. I have in the past been up to Birmingham to run a class. So get in touch with us by the website and we can talk.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are a Christian or not. We do circuit training, strength training, using light to moderate weights. I also run boxercise and aerobics classes. This year has been great for BeLifted as I have been able to attend the New Wine, where I was able to offer BeLifted fitness sessions to the delegates on a daily basis. I will be going back in 2019 so see you there.
I hope in the future to be offering classes on a weekly basis and I also would like to launch a class for young people. Especially those who may not be able to afford a gym membership.
Many of my clients have found a place where they can work out, understand the parts of the body that are being exercised and why. On top of all that, it is a great place to enjoy fellowship with one another and grow in our faith.
